Woodland Trust Conference

17th Oct, 2006 to 18th Oct, 2006

The Woodland Trust is organising a major conference on 17 and 18 October in Manchester called 'New woods, new lives, new landscapes'. It is described as 'A conference on creating woodland for our future'.

With a title like that UWN is not at all surprised that our President, Professor Chris Baines, is one of the speakers on the second day, when the focus is on urban environments. The Chair for the day is Professor Adrian Phillips CBE, former head of Countryside Commission & IUCN Board Member. Other speakers include Tony Hothersall, Director, Red Rose Community Forest, and Nerys Jones, former head of National Urban Forestry Unit.

The conference aims to stimulate a genuine debate about the necessity of woodland expansion throughout the UK.

The charges are £195 for both days (£140 charity / NGO rate) or £105 for one day (£70 charity / NGO rate). On-line booking is available, and this and all other details are on the Woodland Trust website at: www.woodlandtrust.org.uk/wcc
